  Alamy Images allows buyers to access and buy tens of thousands of best-of-breed royalty-free and traditionally licensed images, many of which have never been previously available online.  Around 10,000 images are added to their collection per week and new products and services are constantly being designed to meet customer needs. This, and the fact that it carries a lot of specialist and localised imagery as well as general shots, makes Alamy a great resource for identifying that ‘hard to find’ picture.

Our images are currently being licensed by this company using the Right Protected Licensing option.  This is both to protect us in the usage of our images in a way that Royalty Free licensing does not, but also to afford the buyer certain advantages too.  Please find below an explanation of our licensing choice.

Exclusive - also called 'Rights Protected' [represented on the search system by: Rights Protection Optional (RP)]:

• The buyer pays a royalty to the contributor each time they use the image.
• There is 'Protection' against two buyers using the same image in a similar way (e.g. same industry/country, etc).
• The buyer obtains exclusive use of an image under the terms of the license: these terms may affect the use, media, territory and/or duration in which the image can by used by other buyers.
• A future function will be that before the buyer purchases the image, he/she can also look up its prior Alamy sales history.
• Rights Protection can be an advantage for high-profile projects such as ad campaigns and promotions.
• Pricing for this type of license varies depending on the terms requested. Customers of Alamy would typically pay between 20-30% more to guarantee an exclusive license for their project.
